Frederick William Fanslau

Frederick William Fanslau, age 81, of Britton died Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Herrick Manor in Tecumseh. He was born May 19, 1933 in Clare County, Mich. to Robert Albert and Maggie May (Miller) Fanslau. On February 28, 1959 he married Katherine Downing at the Grace Lutheran Church in Tecumseh, and she survives. He attended Harrison High School. Frederick proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. After hiring in at Tecumseh Products Company he attended Jackson Community College for the apprentice program earning his journeyman’s card. He retired in 1995 after 30 years as a Journeyman Millwright.In addition to his wife, Katherine, Frederick is survived by: three sons, Gregory (Pamela) Fanslau of Tecumseh, Scott (Melody) Fanslau of Adrian, and Brian Fanslau of East Tawas; his grandchildren, Megan (Jared) Smith of Charlotte, N.C., Jeremiah (Jacquelyn) Fanslau of Brighton, Travis (Lauren Ellis) Fanslau of Ferndale, Evan Fanslau of Tecumseh, Eric (Sierra Gale) Fanslau of Nelsonville, Ohio, Eleanor, Gretchen and Jacob Fanslau of East Tawas; one brother, Robert (Pearl) Fanslau, Jr. of Harrison; and one sister, Eileen Brubaker of Gladwin. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Ronald Fanslau and one brother-in-law Paul Brubaker.Graveside services for Frederick were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Ridgeway Cemetery with Rev. Mark Zender officiating. Visitation was Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Tecumseh. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.andersonfuneralservices.com. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Envelopes are available at the Anderson Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
