Gary B. Underwood
Gary B. Underwood, 79, of Marshall, Mich. passed away on July 1, 2019 at home surrounded by family.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Susan (Hoelzer) Underwood; sons Scott (Tracy) Underwood of Howell; Mark Underwood of Cheboygan, and John (Erin Galloway) Underwood of Marshall; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Born in Tecumseh, Mich. he was the son of George and Helen (Westcott) Underwood. He attended Clinton High School and Western Michigan University where he studied to be a mortician. Gary married his high school sweetheart, Susan Underwood, in 1962 at the Clinton United Methodist Church. He was known for his compassion, generosity, sense of humor, and love for his family. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, brothers George, Louis, John, and sister Gloria Fetkenhier.
A private memorial will be held later this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to Oaklawn Hospice, 13444 Preston Drive, Marshall, MI 49068 or oaklawnhospital.org/hospice.
