George Edward Parmley

George Edward Parmley left this earth and went to his heavenly home just before daybreak on June 17, 2016. He was born on June 8, 1936 in Jackson, Mich., the second son of the late George W. and Irene (Drude) Parmley. George was a graduate of East Jackson High School, Class of 1954, and faithfully attended the annual reunions. He was employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber for 29 years, until the factory blew up. He then went back to school and obtained an L.P.N. degree, and worked at Adrian Health Care and Herrick Manor as Charge Nurse until his retirement in 2001.

His membership in the Tecumseh Church of the Nazarene for 40 years was very important to him and he served in various offices over the years including Church Board secretary and Sunday School Superintendent, and had an active shut-in visitation ministry with his friend Ken.

He enjoyed model airplanes, especially radio-controlled ones, and did a lot of woodworking, especially carving ducks, many of which he gave away to friends. Antiques were another hobby especially his 8N Ford tractor. He was a life-member of the Farmers Antique Tractor and Engine Association of Lenawee County, where he served as chaplain for the group.

He is survived by his wife Jean and three children, Cheryl (Orlando) Villarreal of Houston, Texas, Vickie Boswell of Adrian and Andrew (Stephanie) Parmley of Whitehall, Mich. In addition, there are 19 grandchildren, Tommy, Nikki, SaraRae, Ashley, Grace, Kurt, George, Mallory, Rob, Ben, Emily, Savannah, Jake, Delaney, Isaac, Madison, Elijah, Kassidy and Moriah, and eight great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, Bobby, Leonard and David, and two sons, Bruce and Eric.

A funeral service for George was held on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Tecumseh Church of the Nazarene. Burial  followed at Franklin Township Cemetery.
