George A. Kempf

George A. Kempf, age 89, of Tecumseh, passed away Aug. 13, 2015 at home surrounded by family. George was born Jan. 21, 1926, in Adrian, Mich., the son of Andrew and Pearl (Cole) Kempf. On March 22, 1946, he married Lillie Jean Dewey in his father’s home on Kilbuck St., Tecumseh, Mich., and she survives.George attended Tecumseh Schools. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy. George was retired from Tecumseh Public Schools, where he was a maintenance supervisor. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh and Tecumseh VFW Post No. 4187.In addition to his wife Lillie, he is survived by: three daughters, Vicki Frost of Tecumseh, Sherri Kempf of Tecumseh and Lauri Keller of Brighton; seven grandchildren, Jeff (Valbona) Frost, Chad (Monica) Frost, Andrew (Elly) Shook, Daniel J. Keller, Kiersten Keller, Olivia Keller, and Nicholas Keller; two great-grandchildren, Lilly Frost and Anthony Shook; sister, Louise McClure of Fla; and son-in-law, Ronald Shook of Manchester.He was preceded in death by daughter Beverly Shook, three sisters, one brother and son-in-law, Charles Frost, Jr.Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with Rev. Cathi King officiating. Interment followed at Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh, with military honors performed by the United States Navy Honor Guard.Visitation was also held on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service. Condolences to the family may be made online at www.pursefuneralhome.com.
