Gloria E. Gallaway

Gloria E. Gallaway, age 86, of Adrian, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2015, at Lenawee Medical Facility with her family by her side.She was born June 12, 1928, in Detroit, Mich., to Richard and Clara (Yeager) Wakefield. After graduating from Cooley High School, Gloria earned her R.N. from Henry Ford School of Nursing. She worked as the supervisor of nurses at Bixby Medical Center for many years. On December 10, 1949, Gloria married Richard Gallaway at the Holloway Presbyterian Church; he survives.Gloria was a devoted and faithful member of the Holloway Presbyterian Church where she served in many areas. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, gardening, especially interested in apples and tomatoes, and researching the history of the family name. Gloria’s greatest joy was her family.In addition to her husband, Richard, survivors include her loving children, Richard (Cindy) Gallaway of Ann Arbor, Carol England of Cave City, Ky., Neil (Cindy) Gallaway, of Lewiston, Mich.; grandchildren, Chris Johnson, Beth Johnson, Cory (Kelsey) Andersen, Tim Gallaway, Sarah (Nate) Tanis, Jennifer Gallaway; great-grandchildren, Destiny Johnson, Noah Tanis and Laird Andersen; and half brothers, Orval (Pearl) Hodgkin of Winsdor, Ontario and Bobby Wakefield of Albuquerque, N.M.Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her half sister, Jean Henderson.Funeral services for Gloria will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2015, at Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian with the Rev. Karen Zurakowski and Rev. Robert Bidwell officiating. Burial will follow at Raisin Township Cemetery (Holloway Presbyterian Cemetery). The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Holloway Presbyterian Church or the Lenawee Historical Museum.
