Governor Rick Snyder has hurt Michigan’s environment

To the Editor,Governor Rick Snyder doesn’t care about the environment. His impact on the Great Lakes has deeply hurt Michigan’s natural resources. When Governor Snyder came into office, I was under the sincere impression that he was a moderate like former Governor Milliken. I thought he was a governor who would do what was necessary to turn our state around while protecting the health of our communities and environment. Sadly, I was wrong. The Sierra Club released a scorecard showing the governor’s record has been one of aiding polluters and investing in dirty and outdated fossil fuels. Michigan needs a clean energy future and must hold polluters responsible. Gov. Snyder, it seems, doesn’t think the same. Snyder has the wrong priorities for Michigan’s future and its environment. It’s time for a change. He recently scored only 25 percent when evaluated by the Sierra Club on his environmental decisions. This should be a concern to all Michiganders. If Gov. Snyder does not support our state’s environment, then I cannot support him as a leader of this state. A strong Michigan needs a strong and healthy environment, and it’s time for us to take a stand to save Michigan’s wonderful nature preserves for future generations. The governor has hurt our environment with approval of oil and gas tax cuts in particular. This flies in the face of voters who want us to get our energy for clean and renewable sources.
