Grass remains uncut at former Tecumseh Products’ site after court order

On June 23, Lenawee County District Jonathan Poer ordered Tecumseh Food Machinery & Equipment, LLC. to cut its grass. City of Tecumseh Attorney Scott Baker said Wednesday, July 1, he has yet to hear from owner David Roberts regarding Poer’s decision or if the property would be cut. The court order, signed on June 26, gave Tecumseh Food Machinery & Equipment 10 days to cut the grass, which expires on Monday, July 6.A search of unpaid property taxes for the former Tecumseh Products Company property on the City of Tecumseh assessor’s site indicates, with the addition of $36,917.73 for this summer’s 2015 tax bill, Tecumseh Food Machinery & Equipment now owes $157,815.60. To the county, where delinquent tax payments are made with interest and fees, Tecumseh Food Machinery & Equipment owes $135,214.40. Adding the summer’s bill brings the property owner’s total to $172,159.13. At last week’s hearing, Tecumseh Food Machinery & Equipment had no legal representative in attendance. The notice for the hearing was sent to a P.O. box in Wilmington, Ohio, where Roberts owns Total Baking Solutions, LLC.Total Baking Solutions has since moved from its former location and is currently being sued by CookieBaker for $600,000, according to two December 2014 Wilmington News Journal articles.
