Guillermo “Memo” Garcia

Guillermo “Memo” Garcia, age 90, of Adrian, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital.  He was born March 10, 1926, in New Braunfels, Texas, to Fransisco and Luz (Ybarra) Garcia.  On September 23, 1957, he married Juanita Salazar in Monroe and she survives.

Guillermo was a dedicated employee with American Chain and Cable for 20 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Our Lady of Guadalupe Society and the Misiones Salesianes.  Guillermo loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Mexican music and dancing.  He was a contributor of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Guillermo was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and in his earlier years was active in the Adrian Cardinals.

In addition to his loving wife of 58 years, he is survived by his children, Ronnie (Elisa) Garcia of Adrian, Janie Garcia of Adrian, Liz Mendez of Adrian and William (Theresa Kaizer) Garcia of Adrian; brother, Helario “Lalo” Garcia of Toledo, Ohio; sister, Katherine Garcia of Adrian; seven grandchildren, nine-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmie Garcia; one brother, Frank Garcia, Jr; and two sisters, Belen Garcia Stinson and Delia Ramirez.

The Funeral Liturgy will be offered Thursday, March 17, 2016, at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Adrian. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will also be held on Thursday, March 17, 2016, from 11 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the Funeral Liturgy at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
