Gwendolyn Ruth Beland Sisson

Gwendolyn Ruth Beland Sisson, age 89 of Zephyrhills, Fla., passed away at her home on October 31, 2014, under the care of Hospice. She was born on July 5, 1925, in Jackson, Mich., the daughter of Silas and Rella (Chamberlin) Kring. Gwendolyn married Harry F. Beland on June 16, 1943, and he preceded her in death on June 29, 1978. She later married John “Ted” Sisson in 1980 and he survives.Gwendolyn was a member St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Tecumseh and later St. Michael and All Angels’ Episcopal Church in Cambridge Junction. She worked for over 20 years as a bookkeeper for Tecumseh Public Schools. Gwendolyn was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Daughters of the American Revolution and PEO in Florida. In her spare time, she enjoyed square dancing, sewing, flower gardening, traveling and spending time with her family.In addition to her husband, Gwendolyn is survived by her children Terrance (Jeanne) Beland of Zephyrhills, Fla. and Nancy (Darryl) Ertel of Sagola, Mich.; step children Bradley Sisson of Tecumseh, Steven (Kathy) Sisson of Whiteford, Mich., Dawn Sisson of Mt. Pleasant, Mich., and Kelly Sisson of Blissfield, Mich.; 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her first husband, daughter, Roxanne Elaine, brother, Silas Kring, and sister, Bertha Mae Vallelunga.Visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 6, from 9:30-11 a.m. at St. Michael and All Angels’ Episcopal Church. Funeral services will be held at the Church starting at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at 2 p.m. at Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh.
