Hantz invites public to check out facility
Hantz Golf Club of Tecumseh is offering an introductory special on new memberships at its championship layout course for the remainder of the season. A full membership is currently being offered for $999 for those aged 36 and older and an intermediate membership for $499 to those between the ages of 21-35.
Membership includes unlimited golf and use of the practice facility for the entire family, unlimited golf cart usage and a locker, for one individual, a choice to participate in member tournaments and opportunity to compete in Golf Association of Michigan and Toledo District Golf Association events.
In addition, Hantz also offers a social membership for only $100 which allows use of the restaurant facilities for lunch, dinner or use of the bar or outdoor patio overlooking the course. Those members are offered a round of golf once a month for an additional fee of $60.
The former Tecumseh County Club will soon have a Hantz Bank available to the public possibly by the first week of September. Since purchasing the former Tecumseh Country Club, the Hantz Group has renovated the clubhouse, adding new locker room facilities as well as improving the restaurant/pub area. Work has been done for improvements to a beautiful covered patio overlooking the golf course for a little rest and relaxation before or after a round on the par-72 course.
“Some of the main changes are the upgrades to the locker rooms and the dining room area was all remodeled,” said Restaurant Manager Jamie McClintock. “We added on a 2,000 square foot patio with a new awning for shade.”
Extended tee boxes and sand trap renovations have changed the play of the course and offer a challenge for even the best golfers.
“We’ve done continuous work on the golf course, keeping the natural beauty that it has by cleaning up some of the wild areas,” McClintock said.
Golf architect Leo Bishop built the course in 1948 as a getaway for local businessmen. Hantz Golf Club’s website, hantzgolfclubs.com, mentions its central focus being 18 holes of superbly maintained fairway and outstanding greens. The par 72 course has three sets of tee positions (5400 yards to just over 6,600 yards from the tips) and welcomes all levels of golfers. A typical round takes three and a half hours to play, as golfers are not rushed to finish. The course has pine, maple and hickory trees lining the fairways, and the well-maintained greens are fast and roll true.
“We’ve added length to the golf course. Now we’re going to play about 7,000-yards from the tips,” said McClintock.
Ryan Leitner is the course’s PGA Head Golf Professional and provides several instruction programs. A Pro Shop offers apparel from Adidas, Iliac Golf, Greg Norman Collection and Monterey Club and the latest in equipment (Taylor Made, Callaway, Ping, Titleist, Cobra) technology.
Once fitted with their gear, golfers are able to enjoy a double-sided, 12-bay practice facility.
