Harry Neal Smith
Harry Neal Smith, 72, of Tecumseh, died Friday June 24, 2016 at his home. He was born September 15, 1943 in Tecumseh, Mich., the son of the late Jessie Wade and Dorothy Eva Smith. Harry served his country proudly and was an Air Force veteran. He was a member of the Tecumseh VFW Post No. 4187 Hall Slater, Tecumseh American Legion Underwood-Orr Post No. 34 and the Brooklyn Eagles. Harry’s love of his life was riding his Harley and visiting with his grandkids and for many years he enjoyed playing golf.
Harry is survived by a daughter, Jessica (Chris) Lee Smith Meyers of Glenview, Ill.; two sisters, Shirley (Norman) Campbell of Clinton, Mich., and Linda Porter of Tecumseh, Mich.; three grandchildren, Kensie, Clara and Hudson Meyers and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Wade Smith; brother-in-law, Patrick Porter and a cousin, Jack Smith.
At his request cremation has taken place. A memorial service for Harry was held on Wednesday June 29, at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes with full military honors under the auspice of the Tecumseh American Legion Post No. 34. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Clinton at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Tecumseh VFW or U of M Cardiovascular Center.
