Helen E. Kappler

Helen E. Kappler, age 95 of Tecumseh, passed away September 27, 2014 at Cambrian Assisted Living. She was born on February 6, 1919 in Tecumseh, the daughter of Frederick and Mary (Houseman) Anderson. On January 28, 1945, Helen married Ray Williams, the father of her children. She later married Robert Kappler on January 22, 1970.Helen was a devoted lifelong member of the Macon United Methodist Church. Helen worked for many years as a registered nurse, starting her career with Henry Ford Hospital and later working for Herrick Memorial Hospital, where she retired. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and reading. Helen was an excellent seamstress and began quilting after her retirement. Helen loved music and was gifted to be able to play the piano by ear. Helen is survived by her son Mark Williams of Jonesville; daughters Mary (Ronald) Korte and Sylvia (Gary) Korte, both of Clinton; step daughter Sally (Frank) Daub of North Salem, Ind.; grandchildren Greg (Tracy) Korte, Mark Williams, Chris (Joy) Korte, Amy (Brian) Renaldi, Brad (Vanessa) Korte, Brandy (Larry) Tuttle and Twyla (Mark) Broviak; and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, sisters Ruth VanVleet and Lois Nicholls, and daughter-in-law Janet Williams.A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014 from 2-6 p.m. at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. A memorial service to celebrate Helen’s life will be held on Monday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m. at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes with Pastor David Cornwell officiating. The family will also receive friends on the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made in Helen’s honor to Great Lakes Hospice.
