Howard J. Baughey

Howard J. Baughey, age 85, a longtime Tecumseh resident, passed away peacefully August 9, 2013, at Provincial House, Adrian, Mich., with the caring help of Hospice of Lenawee.Howard was born September 1, 1927, in Adrian, the son of Andrew and Marie (Sneyd) Baughey.Howard served four years in the U. S. Navy and retired from the Tecumseh Products.He was fiercely independent and enjoyed life and giving to others.Howard is survived by two nieces, Victoria Sharp (Baughey) and Sophia Preston (Baughey) and four nephews, Grant Baughey, Joel Baughey, Carlo Mobley and Philip Mobley.He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rose Mobley (Baughey); brothers, George and Jesse Baughey; niece, Georgia Putman (Baughey) and a nephew, Michael Mobley.Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler officiating. Burial followed in Brookside Cemetery with military honors performed by the U. S. Navy Honor Guard. Visitation was from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., also on Tuesday, two hours prior to the service.
