Ilah M. Brooks

Ilah M. Brooks, 85, of Belding, died Sunday morning, June 23, 2013 at Heartland Health Care Center in Ionia. Ilah was born on September 4, 1927 in Alpena, Mich., to Clare and Mary (Olsen) Dority. On August 5, 1950 she married John Brooks in Angola, Ind., and together they enjoyed 61 years of marriage until his death in November of 2011.Ilah loved keeping people warm by sewing quilts, and over the years she has sewn hundreds!Ilah is loved and survived by her children; Tracie (Doug) Whiting of Orleans, Robert (Betsy) Brooks of Onsted, Mary (Mark) Kelley of Maumelle, Ark, Lori DeVries of Howell, her grandchildren; Andrew Whiting, Alison Brooks, Adam Brooks, Jessica Burette, Stacey Kelley, Andrea DeVries and her sister; Patricia Miller of Prescott. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brother; Clare Dority.Memorial services will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Shiloh Community Church at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, at the church. Memorial contributions in Ilah’s name may be given to the Heartland Health Care Activities Fund, envelopes will be available at the church or at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, where funeral care has been entrusted.
