Indians sixth at SMISL relays
Tecumseh’s varsity girls swim and dive team placed sixth overall as hosts of the Southern Michigan Independent Swim League (SMISL) Relays on Saturday, Sept. 8.
Bedford placed first with 438 points while Milan was second with 408 points. Adrian finished third (400): Monroe, fourth (292); Chelsea, fifth (262) and the Indians sixth (180).
Tecumseh’s highest placement was a third place in the 300-yard breaststroke relay with the team of Mackenzie Foss, Karly Smith, Rachel Waite and Elizabeth Becker clocking a time of 3:48.74. Bedford won the event in 3:35.88 (Lexi Marok, Kelsey Stark, Hanna Martin, Hannah Asselin).
The Indians placed fourth in diving with 291.05 points while Milan won the event with 401.95.
The Tribe placed fourth in the 300-yard medley relay (Waite, Karly Smith, Nicole Greene) with a time of 3:26.08. Adrian (Jenna Moreno, Victoria Mueller, Jennifer Wagley) placed first with a time of 3:17.70.
Tecumseh was also fourth in the 300-yard backstroke (Taylor McClinchey, Greene, Jennifer Gozdor, Alison Eubanks) with a time of 3:14.21. Adrian (Allie Mohr, Sarah Norton, Victoria Mueller, Jenaca Cryder) won the relay with a time of 3:14.21.
Adrian made a strong showing with five first place finishes. The Maples won the 200-yard medley relay (1:55.96): the 300-yard medley relay (3:17.70); the 300-yard backstroke (3:14.21); the 300-yard butterfly relay (3:03.33); and the 600-yard freestyle relay (6:19.21).
Tecumseh hosted Milan on Thursday, Sept. 6, and lost 127-59.
Waite won two events for the Indians in state cut times. She placed first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.73 and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:09.71.
Greene placed first for Tecumseh in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:07.34.
