Indians win opening round of district soccer

Tecumseh’s varsity boys soccer team defeated New Boston Huron 5-1 on Tuesday in the first round of districts. Approximately 10 minutes into the game, Noah Schoenberger put a shot into the back of the net. Josh Nowak also scored and gave Tecumseh a 2-0 lead by the end of the first half. Huron scored first in the second half but Gabe Giovannone added a goal a couple of minutes later to give Tecumseh a 3-1 lead. Jonny Montoya added another goal for the Indians and the final goal came from Brad Arras. “All in all, I was pleased with our effort,” said Tecumseh coach Jerry Nowak. “Our back line and defensive mids deserve some credit for their effort tonight. This group is playing very well right now. Over the past twelve matches, we only have one loss and have only given up six goals. These guys are a big reason for this success.” Assists were recorded by Ollie Autrey, Nowak and Evan Risinger.
