Indians win six, Maples take four

Tecumseh junior swimmer Allie Merritt picked up a pair of the Indians' six first place finishes at the annual Kiwanis Invitational at the Tecumseh Community Pool on Saturday.

The Indians topped visiting Adrian by two wins with the Maples tallying four victories during the day.

Tecumseh divers Marissa Martin and Alisha Payne shared first place honors in the diving event to open the meet.

Merritt won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:04 and the 100-yard backstroke in a quick 1:06.

Tecumseh senior Gretchen Seidel placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke and finished third in the 200 Individual Medley. Freshman Rachel Waite was second for the Indians in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard freestyle.

Tecumseh's 200-yard medley relay team of Kaitlyn VanDeCar, Chelsea Shartle, Seidel and Merritt with a time of 2:02. The Indians also placed second in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Adrian Lexi Dudas won two events, the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:06 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:49. She was also a member of the Maple's winning junior/senior 200-yard freestyle relay (1:48) and the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:59) teams.
