Irene Allen Cadmus

Irene Allen Cadmus, age 86, of Tecumseh, passed away October 6, 2016 at Gaslight Village, surrounded by her family. She was born February 8, 1930, in Salina, Kan., the daughter of Harley E. and Gladys (Bergen) Wilt. On September 12, 1948, she married Jack Allen in Sand Creek and he preceded her in death on March 9, 1973.

Irene was a graduate of Sand Creek High School, Class of 1948. During her working years, she was employed with Stauffer Chemical and Lev’s Bakery.  Irene was a member of Clinton United Church of Christ.

She enjoyed cooking, gardening and bowling.   Additionally, Irene was very active with the Lenawee County Chapter of the American Red Cross as a blood donor, blood drive volunteer, and was awarded Volunteer of the Year for 2009-2010.

Irene is survived by two daughters, Brenda (Ron) Andrews and Shirley Ross; two sons, David  (Nancy) Allen and Dale (Betty) Allen; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Emma Phenicie and Marjorie Boen and sister-in-law, Marge (Ackley) Wilt.

In addition to her first husband, Jack Allen, Irene was preceded in death by her parents; second husband, Richard Cadmus; three sisters, Doris Stine, Beverly Cowan and Lucille Dull-Bliesner and brother, Jack Wilt.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Rev. Diane White officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Cemetery, Tipton.

Visitation was from 1-5 p.m., Monday, Oct. 10, 2016 and again on Tuesday one hour prior to funeral services at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
