Jail sentence issued to father of injured baby
ADRIAN — Jeremy Perry, 21, of Adrian was sentenced to two-to-ten years in prison on Thursday, March 26, for severely injuring his infant daughter. The three-month-old Halley Perry suffered injuries in her Raisin Township home on September 30 after her father shook her and threw a formula bottle at her.The sentence is the maximum allowed by state guidelines, and was handed down by Judge Anna Maria Anzalone. On February 18, Perry pled guilty to a reduced count of second-degree child abuse, and admitted he was responsible for his daughter’s injuries.In addition to the prison sentence, Perry was also ordered to pay $17,157 in restitution. The court credited him with 171 days served.Halley’s injuries were discovered by her grandfather on the day of the incident, and she was taken by helicopter to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in the University of Michigan Health Care System. The baby was released from the hospital on October 7.Family members of Perry and his daughter encouraged the court to give the maximum sentence allowed.
