James B. Moore

James B. Moore, age 83, passed away on July 15, 2015, at Hospice of Lenawee with his family by his side.Jim was born on March 7, 1932 in Adrian, Mich., to Kenneth and Doreen (Brady) Moore. On June 30, 1951, he married Wilma Wiedmayer and they enjoyed 58 years together. Wilma preceded him in death on Sept. 28, 2009.There were four children born to this union. Tom (Terri Lewis) Moore of Onsted, Vicki (Jim) Woodward of Ankeny, Iowa, Lisa (Roy Livingston) Brown and Tim (Kim Fox) Moore of Brooklyn. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Travis (Michelle) Moore, Reegan (Kevin) Watson, Shannon (Jared) Heller, Kristin (Brian) Day, Lindsey (Kyle) Sutherland, Chelsea (Mike Walters) Moore, Sadie (Zach Martiny) Brown, Cody Brown and Paige Moore, great-grandchildren; Reece, Chase, Breydon, Megan, Cason, Allison, Ryan, Lily, Ella, Jeremy and Sloan, a sister, Mary Margaret (Roger) Brooks, sister-in-law, Judy (Danny) Semark and his companion and dear friend, Charlene Williams and her family.Jim was a salesman all of his working lifetime. He started as a car salesman, then Jim and Wilma owned and operated Moore’s Trading Post at Evans Lake for 10 years.After selling the store, Jim worked at MISCO in Ann Arbor. Following that he worked for Thomas Company in Clinton, Ann Arbor Machine Company, Novi Precision, and ended his career at Brighton Machine.At an early age, Jim developed a passion for quarter horses. He rode, trained, showed, bred, sold and bought horses throughout his lifetime. In the 1960s, Jim owned the dream of a lifetime, Dell Tommy, who became a pleasure horse world champion in 1960-61. Jim was well known throughout the U.S. for his sincere love and devotion to the horse industry. He was awarded a lifetime membership in the AQHA (American Quarter Horse Association) in 1990.Memorial visitation for Jim was held on Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Clinton Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes from 5-8 p.m. Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 20, 2015, at the United Church of Christ in Clinton at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Jim to Hospice of Lenawee, Lenawee Therapeutic Riding, or the American Heart Association. Condolences may be offered at www.handlerfuneralhomes.com.
