Janice Emily (Clapp) Long

Janice Emily (Clapp) Long of Tecumseh passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016 at her home under the care of her family and Hospice of Lenawee. Janice was born October 30, 1923 at the family farm in Raisin Township, Mich., to George and Maude Clapp. She graduated from Adrian High School and married John Long Jr. in 1942. They were married 53 years.

Janice was co-owner of Long Motor Sales with her husband John until his passing in 1995.  She then became co-owner with her son Eric until her passing.

She is survived by her children, Dianna (Richard) Westgate, Jeff, Eric (Patty), Gaylord (Anne), Sylvia (John) Silberhorn and Kristin (Dan) Hall; 24 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; her son, Gregg; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, four brothers and one sister. She is also survived by all members of AA/Alanon who were her second family for over 50 years.

Funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes with Deacon Jim Nicholson officiating.

Burial was at Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh.
