Jerome Franklin Barritt

So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” — Romans 14:8Jerome Franklin Barritt, age 93, of Tecumseh, died November 3 at Tecumseh Place I, under the loving care of Hospice of Lenawee. He was born September 23, 1921, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Mich. He was the son of Frank C. and Josephine (Orr) Barritt. He was united in marriage with Patricia Joan Hanna on November 17, 1944, at the First Presbyterian Church in Tecumseh.Frank was a veteran of WWII and served in the US Navy. He was assigned to CASU 14 in the Pacific theater, where he was stationed on Guadalcanal and Munda. After returning from the war he spent 15 years in California, where his only son Brad was born, and then three years in Florida when his job transferred there. He felt his hometown of Tecumseh calling, so he moved his family back. It was there that he began his 30-plus year career at the Tecumseh Products as a buyer for the company. Frank was well liked by co-workers and salesman and developed many relationships that extended beyond work. Frank was an avid golfer and former member of the Tecumseh Country Club. He loved spending time on the course and at the club’s many social gatherings. Frank was a Mason and a lifetime member of Tecumseh Grand Lodge 69. Most important to Frank was his faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder and singing in the choir.Frank was at both his grandchildren’s births. He loved spending as much time with Ian and Tricia as possible. Frank would drive them around town to different parks, and when his driving days ended, would take them on walks around the neighborhood. Frank was a quiet, gentle man who loved his family. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.Frank is survived by his son: Brad (Samina) Barritt of Ann Arbor, and his grandchildren: Ian and Patricia Barritt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Joan Hanna Barritt, his sister Joan and brother Seymour.Cremation has taken place at his request. A memorial service will be held November 15, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Tecumseh with Pastor Richard Mortimer officiating. A luncheon will follow the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Hospice of Lenawee. Condolences to the family may be made online at www.pursefuneralhome.com.
