Jerry Glenn Forsyth

Jerry Glenn Forsyth was called home by his Savior on September 8, 2018.  He was born in Adrian on January 25, 1945 to Glenn and Helen Forsyth.  He graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1963.  He was proud to have served his country in the Army during the Vietnam crisis from 1965 to 1967.  His service continued with active duty in the reserves until 1968.  He married Pat Lawson in 1969 and she survives.  They lived in Spartan Village while he went to MSU to obtain his Bachelor of Science degree in Elevator Management. He went on to manage 12 different grain elevators in Michigan and Illinois.

Building on 50 years of elevator experience Jerry began his own business, 4K Solutions LLC, as a Commodity Broker providing consulting, marketing and distribution services for farm products. The 4Ks refer to his surviving children, Kirk Forsyth of Deckerville, Mich., Kristin (Joe) Hess of Tecumseh, Kari Forsyth of Lexington, Ky., and Katy (Todd) Kennedy of Highwood, Ill.  He was also “Pa” to Grant and Ty Forsyth and J.R. and Katherine Hess.  They will reminisce about their grandpa riding the 4-wheeler with them, in his garden, turkey and deer hunting, and playing with his model tractors when visiting the elevators.

He is survived by in-laws Jim and Debbie Lawson of Tecumseh and Bob and Abbe Lawson of Arlington, Texas. Uncle Jerry will also be remembered by Courtney Lawson of Rochester, Minn., Tate (Samantha) Lawson of Summerville, S.C., and Stone Lawson of Arlington, Texas.

Jerry’s legacy will be as a provider for his family, a veteran, and a strong supporter of his church. His girls described him as a crusty, toasted marshmallow on the outside with a soft center. His visitors were usually told, “Be sure to go home and tell your family you love them.”

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Operation Homefront, or Hospice of Lenawee.

Visitation for Jerry was held on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.  A funeral mass was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Adrian on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018 at 10 a.m.

He will be buried at a later date in the Armed Forces Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Mich. Condolences may be made to the family at handlerfuneralhomes.com.
