Jerry Lee Butler

Jerry Lee Butler, 73, of Tecumseh, passed away on July 22, 2014 under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. He was born on November 2, 1940 in Tecumseh, the son of Richard and Nina (Bird) Butler. Jerry married Linda Palacky on March 31, 1962 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester and she survives.Jerry worked as a computer programmer for many years for Solucient in Ann Arbor. In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed woodworking and quilting with his wife, Linda. He also trained and showed Pembroke Welsh Corgis in the obedience and breed rings. His Corgi, Sandy, was the highest scoring Corgi in the U.S. and retained that title for three years. Jerry was a loving husband, father and a friend to many, who will be greatly missed.In addition to his wife, Linda, Jerry is survived by his daughters, Carol Ann Helms of Britton and Cathy (Darrell) La Salle of New York, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Macy Helms, Allie (Chuck) Elstone and McKenzie and Levi La Salle; brother, Roger Butler of Lady Lake, Fla.; and sister, Phyllis Vallie of Stephenson, Mich.A memorial service to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held on Friday, Aug. 1, at 1 p.m. at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 12, noon, on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made in Jerry’s honor to the Lenawee County Humane Society, Hospice of Lenawee or the Tecumseh Service Club.
