Jerry Travis Duncan

Jerry Travis Duncan, age 71 of Tecumseh, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2014, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was born on February 17, 1943, in Sprucepine, Ala., the son of Jesse and Gertrude (Barnes) Duncan. Jerry married Jane Worley on February 9, 1963, in Ypsilanti and she survives.Jerry was proud of his faith in Jesus Christ and enjoyed sharing the truth with others. Jerry was also a gifted musician and loved to play the guitar and sing country gospel and jazz, as well as play in several bands, including Graceway’s Gospel Group. Jerry retired from Ford Motor Company in Rawsonville after 32 years. In his spare time he enjoyed working in his garage and yard and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his boxer Laila. Jerry is survived by his wife, Jane; children Dana (Royle) Langton, Phillip (Teresa) Duncan and Jason (Leah) Duncan, all of Tecumseh; grandchildren Yvette Duncan, Royle (Molly) Langton, Amanda Hadden, Ryan Langton, Alex, Bradley and Jesse Duncan; great-grandchildren Errick, Zoe, Jase and Kobi; sisters Betty Love, Nell Nichols and Wilma Duncan; many nieces and nephews and many special neighbors. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, an infant child, brothers Thomas and Benton. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, from 3-8 p.m. at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, at Faith Baptist Church in Adrian, with Pastor Greg Burdine officiating. Interment will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh. Memorial contributions may be made in Jerry’s honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
