Joan L. (Deis) Emery

Joan L. (Deis) Emery, age 74 of Adrian, passed away January 3, 2014, at the Hospice of Lenawee Home.She was born May 22, 1939, in Grand Rapids, Ohio to Edwin P. and Elsie (Davis) Deis. Joan attended the Tipton Country School and graduated from Tecumseh High School.On July 12, 1963, Joan was married to Jerry Emery at the Tipton Congregational Church and they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Joan worked as a florist prior to opening Emery’s Flowers. Over the years Joan enjoyed her plants and customers at the greenhouse. Spending time with four-legged friends made her smile.In addition to her husband, Joan is survived by their children: Sandra Zeigler, Steven and Christina Emery, both of Adrian; Linda and Allen Wielfaert of Britton and Michael and Patty Emery of Adrian; grandchildren: Amy, Derek, R.J., Michael, Sierra, Anthony, Grace, Evan, Thomas and Karl; and a sister Carole MacQueen of Albion. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Emery.Memorial services took place Monday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Wagley Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Joan may be made to the Tipton Congregational Church or Hospice of Lenawee. Envelopes are available at Wagley Funeral Home.
