Joan M. Evers

Joan M. Evers, 85, of Hillsdale and formerly of Camden, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at her home. She was born March 9, 1928, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Nelson and Alma (Bacon) Ives. When her parents died, she was raised by her grandparents, Harvey and Edna Bacon, in Fayette, Ohio.On Oct. 1, 1944, she married Rozell Nelson Evers and together they operated the family farm. He preceded her in death in 1988. Joan worked for many years as a nurse at the Morenci Hospital and in the office of Dr. Tarr in Camden. She was also the office manager for Tru-Green, worked 10 years in the office of Edward Jones Investments in Hillsdale, and was a realtor for Hill Realty. Joan was a devoted member of the Camden United Methodist Church and held many offices within the church. She was also a member of the Margaret Sessions Clark Circle in Hillsdale. Her membership in the Hillsdale Garden Club allowed her to pursue her love of flowers and gardening. Survivors include four children, Nelson (Jan Jones) Evers of Tecumseh, Joseph (Cindy) Evers of Dade City Fla., Linda (Walter) Shiffler of Camden, Howard (Glenda) Evers of Gainesville Ga; one sister, Beverly Amos of Canton Ga; twelve grandchildren, Scott and Bradley Evers, Amber Burgess, Ben Shiffler and Emily Shiffler Senske, Ross and Rebecca Evers, Katherine Milliner, Frances Page, Beth Ender, Rachael and Rebecca Riggs, and 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, John Ives.Visitation was scheduled Saturday from 3-8 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel, Reading. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Camden United Methodist Church with Reverend Ron Keller and Pastor Trevor McDermont officiating. Interment will follow in Camden Cemetery.
