John J. Sell, Jr.

John J. Sell, Jr., age 78 of Clinton passed away Thursday, September 12, 2013. He was born September 7, 1935 in Ann Arbor the son of John and Marguerite (Bower) Sell. He married Kathleen Kehoe on October 20, 1956 in Clinton and she survives.John was a true family man and was known around town as someone who could make friends with everyone. He was the backbone for his family and his community. John was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He worked for American Airlines for 35 years before retiring. He was an active member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, VFW, and several other groups. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, and traveling the world with his wife. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and liked collecting antique automobiles. He was known for his great sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.In addition to his wife Kathleen, he is survived by his daughters Sharie Sell of Tecumseh and Rhonda (Tom) Ash of Manchester; his son Terry (Chris) Sell of Saline; grandchildren Amy (Che Thomas) Sell and Jenny Sell; step grandchildren Justin, John, Brian and Jenny; and a great granddaughter Sage. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Raymond and Frank.Memorial visitation was Sunday, Sept. 15 from 4-8 p.m. at the Clinton Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes with a 7 p.m. prayer vigil. Memorial visitation also took place at St. Dominic Catholic Church on Monday, Sept. 16, from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial mass at 11 a.m. A luncheon celebrating John’s life followed the mass at 12 p.m. in St. Dominic Hall. Friends and family were invited for fellowship following the luncheon until 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the MS Foundation.
