Joyce Anne Townsend Jubenville

Joyce Anne Townsend Jubenville, age 84, of Tecumseh died Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. She was born May 22, 1934 in Ypsilanti, to Ransom Shankland and Helen (Rorabacher) Townsend.   On June 18, 1955, she married Leo Gerald Jubenville at the Methodist Church in Lincoln Park. They shared 63 years together.

A member of the Tecumseh United Methodist Church, Joyce was involved in the bell choir, choir, a youth group leader, United Methodist Women and the P.E.O. She was part owner of J & B Gymnastics in Tecumseh and a volunteer for the HOPE program. She loved children’s books, carousel horses and reading. She was a very good story teller, eloquent writer and loved listening to Neil Diamond. Joyce loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. 

Besides her husband Leo, she is survived by her children; Anne Jubenville of Bay City, Kirk (Cynthia) Jubenville of Plainwell, Jane (Dave) Baker and Carol Rebottaro both of Tecumseh; a brother Vard (Lora) Townsend of Dearborn; a sister Kathy (Guy) Wynn of Shelby Twp.; eight grandchildren, Joshua, Tyler, Ryan and Kara Jubenville, Morgan and Alex Baker and Alanna and Marri Cruz.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. The funeral service for Joyce was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, with Rev. Mark Miller officiating. Private burial was in Brookside Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, United Methodist Church or the First Presbyterian Church. Condolences may be offered to the family at handlerfuneralhomes.com
