Joyce Elaine (Wild) Bater

Joyce Elaine (Wild) Bater, age 84, of Tecumseh died Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Herrick Manor. She was born on August 5, 1930, in Adrian to Arthur and Helen (Ulrich) Wild. She graduated from Adrian High School. She married Charley Bater on October 16, 1948. He preceded her in death on March 10, 1994. Joyce had worked at General Telephone Company, was secretary at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church and retired from Tecumseh Public Schools as a bus driver. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herrick Hospital Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Joyce is survived by a son, Rev. Michael (Charlotte) Bater; a daughter, Connie (Jeffrey) Johnston; four grandchildren, Amanda (Philip) Gronholz, Rev. Noah (Melissa) Bater, Tiffany (Richard) Gray, and Andrew (Ashley) Johnston; six great-grandchildren, Georgia, Harper and Hudson Gronholz, Connor Gray, Emersyn Bater and Brantley Johnston; one sister, Donna Cook; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Charley, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, four brother-in-laws and two sister-in-laws.The family would like to thank the staff at Herrick Manor for their care and dedication.Funeral Services for Joyce will be held Friday, May 1, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Philip Krieger officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Tecumseh, and on Friday from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
