Kathleen R. “Kitty” Kopke

Kathleen R. "Kitty" Kopke, age 86, of Britton, passed away August 17, 2012, at home under the loving care of her family and Great Lakes Hospice. Kitty was born September 22, 1925 in Tecumseh, Mich., the daughter of Otto and Edith (Kaltenbach) Powell. On August 9, 1975 she married Lawrence Kopke and he survives.Kitty was founder and leader of the Raisin Cane 4-H Club. She worked for several years as Raisin Township Clerk and as an Administrative Secretary at Stauffer/Wacker. She was a Sunday school teacher at Holloway Presbyterian Church and an avid genealogist in her later years. She loved people and found something positive in everyone she met and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.In addition to her husband Lawrence, she is survived by her children, William H. (Roxie) Osburn, Jr., Thomas Osburn and Steve (Leslie) Osburn; step daughters, Kathleen (Ray) Arnold and Sharon (Gary) Gyurnek; sisters, Pauline Van Valkenburg and Josephine (John) Thomas; grandchildren, Leslie (Brent), Lisa, Joshua (Kim), Carissa (Dennis), and Rose; step grandchildren, Bernadette, John, Colleen, Kate and Brianna; nine great grandchildren and the father of her children, William H. Osburn, Sr.She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William and John Powell; son, Garland Osburn and step granddaughter, Jennifer.Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Rev. Karen Zurakowski officiating. Burial followed in Holloway/Raisin Presbyterian Cemetery.Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
