Members of the Kiwanis Club of Tecumseh are helping citizens and businesses, who want to demonstrate their patriotism, do so through a special flag subscription program.

For $30 per year, citizens may have flags displayed at their homes or businesses on five major holidays: Memorial Day, Flag Day, July 4, Labor Day and Veterans Day.

“We provide the flags, and we’ll put them up and take them down,” said Dr. Cal Tuttle, a Kiwanis Club member. “We put a sleeve in the yard with a cap on it that sits below mowing level. We come out and take care of everything on certain holidays.”

Approximately 120 flags are currently being displayed through the subscription service, and Dr. Tuttle expects that number to grow.

“Our goal is that we would eventually like to see the whole town have flags up for these holidays,” said Tuttle.

Those who are interested in becoming involved with this program may contact Dr. Tuttle at 517.673.5331.
