Kiwanis, students, faculty and parents improved Bird Park

To the Editor,On Friday, Oct. 24, the Tecumseh Kiwanis Club organized a chainsaw brigade and headed to Bird Park on Maumee Street to cut down invasive plants that are choking out native plants in the park. The team worked until 1 p.m. and generated mountains of brush. At 1:15 p.m., 120 Tecumseh Middle School students arrived on location and began clearing the brush. The students, under the direction of Mr. Joe Bundas and other TMS faculty, rolled up their sleeves, and hauled what seemed like and endless amount of woody debris up to a gigantic orange City of Tecumseh truck, where City personnel shredded the material into woodchips that will be used on future walking trails throughout the park. TMS students did a fantastic job and their enthusiasim and effort made short work of a very large task!Thank you Tecumseh Kiwanis Club, Tecumseh Middle School students, Tecumseh Middle School faculty, and the parents that volunteered to assist with this community park project!Shelley LimCity of Tecumseh
