Lenawee Department on Aging thanks supporters

To the Editor,Over the past few months, the weather has posed some incredible challenges. The Lenawee Department on Aging would like to express our appreciation for the wonderful support of the friends, family and city/village/county employees that have helped us continue to supply services to older adults in Lenawee County. Clearing roads and the parking lots at the local senior centers by city, village, and county employees has been appreciated. This made it easier to get meals to homebound individuals. It also provided the freedom for older adults to continue to get out to meet at the senior center for meals and socialization.The wonderful friends, family members and neighbors that took the extra time to clear another driveway, scrape off a porch or sidewalk, or even clean off a car are so appreciated. Those seemingly little tasks can mean the difference for an older adult getting out or a volunteer home delivered meal driver getting safely to the door. A huge thanks to the many men and women that volunteered their time and vehicles to help deliver meals during the winter months. By those individuals dedicating their time to the program we were able to continue delivering meals, even when the road conditions were less than desirable. We also were able to continue to provide non-emergency medical appointments for those that need assistance, dialysis clients in particular.With spring on its way, we are appreciative of all the community does to support LDA and the seniors they serve. It is because of that support that we are able to provide home delivered meals to around 600 individuals county wide per day and meaningful activities to enhance the social and physical welfare of older adults in our community.Cari Rebottaro, Director Lenawee Department on AgingMegan Porter, Center Director Tecumseh Senior Center
