Leon Patrick Jahnke, fondly referred to as "Dad" “Pops,” and “Grampy” of Hartselle Alabama, and formerly of Tecumseh, Mich., passed from this life on August 10, 2013 in Hartselle Alabama at the age of 77. Leon was born in Ann Arbor Mich., on March 17, 1936 to Samuel and Gertrude (Weatherholt) Jahnke. Leon lived in Tecumseh, and worked for Chrysler for a number of years before being transferred to the plant in Huntsville Alabama in 1982, where he continued to work until his retirement in 1996.

Leon truly loved going on long scenic rides, which he was able to enjoy up until his final days. He will be missed for his good nature and good humor, his smile, and his “pointing finger.”

He is survived by sons Sam Jahnke (Patricia) of Hartselle, Ala., David Jahnke of Hartselle, Ala., and Joseph Jahnke of Tecumseh, Mich., Daughters Nancy (Steve) Smith of Fla., and Doranna (Lou) Dimitro of Tenn.; Brothers Sam Jahnke of Okla., Jerry Jahnke of Ga, and Chuck Jahnke of Ala.; Grandchildren Shawn Bowman, Andy Jahnke, Michael Grenon, Samuel Grenon, Amber Jahnke, and Wade Jahnke. He will also be missed by his longtime friend Tim Peebles.
