Lewis Keith Cammet

Lewis Keith Cammet, age 91, passed away at his home in Clinton on August 24, 2015. He was born on October 25, 1923, in Saline, Mich., the son of Charles and Edna (Steeb) Cammet. On January 1, 1988, he married Lila Greenfield and she survives.Lewis was a member of Clinton United Methodist Church. He retired from General Motors as a mechanic/trainer. He was a member of the Clinton American Legion Post No. 176 and Tecumseh VFW Post No. 4187. He served in the United States Army, the 863rd Engineer Battalion that was first formed in 1942. The 863rd participated in World War II and Lewis continued to meet with his Army brothers all throughout the years. He was a very caring man who was a friend to many. He had a great willingness to help family and friends and could fix anything. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.He is survived by his wife, Lila; children, Bruce (Maggie) Greenfield of Toledo, Ohio, Kay (Richard) Zemke of Hale, Mich., and Kim Greenfield of Clinton; brothers, Bruce (Bea) Cammet of Belleville, Mich., and Edward (Betty) Cammet of Saline, Mich.; grandchildren, Elease Luke and Renee Woletz; great-grandchildren, Nathan Woletz and Jonathon Luke; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Crystal Fox. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Elmer and Ralph Cammet. Visitation for Lewis was held on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, at the Clinton Chapel of Handler Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, at Clinton United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. with visitation from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment with will follow at Riverside Cemetery with Military Honors under the auspices of Clinton American Legion Post No. 176. Memorial Contributions may be made in honor of Lewis to Clinton United Methodist Church or Hospice of Lenawee. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.handlerfuneralhomes.com.
