Library trustees ask for voter support in upcoming election

To the Editor,During the last four years, Tecumseh District Library (TDL) has been on a reduced budget. There is no programming budget; the budgets for books, e-books and other materials have been greatly reduced. Staff has had to rely primarily on donations from the Friends of Tecumseh District Library and other generous donors to attend conferences and/or workshops to keep current in the ever-changing library and technology fields. The Trustees are grateful for this invaluable source of extra funding in our time of need. While the public has probably not been aware of all of the library’s cuts, TDL has tried to maintain quality service, in light of the necessary adjustments due to the loss of revenues. The Trustees of your library care a great deal about the quality of life in our community. Over the last 10 years, TDL has become a key community resource providing knowledge, recreation and enjoyment for everyone. TDL cannot survive further reductions. That’s why the Trustees are asking for your help in passing both proposals in the upcoming election. We know you, the taxpayers, expect great service. With our dedicated Library Director, Gayle Hazelbaker, and hard working, terrific staff, the Trustees will make sure that happens.TDL Trustees:Carolyn FeldkampGayle KeiserDebbie LawsonStan LegencMatt LinkeJay SamelakKaren Stoops
