Local woman channels Marilyn Monroe

Those attending the Community Arts of Tecumseh (CAT) Music Fest on Saturday, Aug. 22 found themselves in the presence of American icon Marilyn Monroe. Clinton resident Anna Moore has started a career making public appearances as the popular American actress.Moore was determined to pursue a unique career after her high school graduation. While working with a photographer to create her modeling portfolio, Moore was told how her smile was very similar to Monroe’s.Flattered and excited at the comparison, Moore did a little research and recently began making public appearances in the persona of Monroe. She made some changes to her hair and make-up to accentuate her similarity to Monroe.“I went blonder and blonder and never went back,” Moore said. “The appearances have been wild. It’s like I’m actually Marilyn. The feedback is so positive.”Moore has studied Monroe’s films and outtakes closely as a way to become more familiar with Monroe’s mannerisms. “Before I got the compliment I started watching one of Marilyn Monroe’s films but didn’t finish it,” Moore said. Now she has watched Monroe’s most popular films over and over, and like many Americans is captivated by Monroe and her presence. “There’s something about her that just glows,” Moore said. “It’s like she lights up the room. She’s the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen.”Many young women today might be uncomfortable with Monroe’s full-figured body, but Moore, 19, embraces the curvaceous aspect of her new idol. “I’m okay with her body type,” said Moore. “We are actually the same size. I’m enjoying my time with it.”Her interpretation of Monroe is accurate enough that Moore has people wanting to be photographed with her. “It comes so naturally, I forget what I look like,” Moore said. “I just do a ton of research at home.”Although she plans to take some acting classes at Washtenaw Community College this fall, Moore wants to keep her focus on personal appearances as Monroe. Moore’s mother is her manager and helps her to find work as Monroe. Her next event is an appearance at Latino Fest in Toledo. People can also catch Moore as Marilyn at the Clinton Fall Festival where she will ride in the Clinton Fall Festival Parade.“I’m really going to give this a shot,” said Moore. “I am just thankful to be doing something different. I’m very happy.”Moore can be found on Facebook page under her stage name Marie Moore.
