The Tecumseh Center for the Arts (TCA) is once again featuring area residents for its annual Tecumseh’s Got Talent event. Citizens will star on the TCA stage as they showcase a variety of talent on Saturday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m. Fourteen acts are scheduled, and a 50/50 raffle winner will be announced during the event.

Tecumseh’s Got Talent will feature performances by Tecumseh Dance Workshop, Dance Steps Studio, the TCA Big Band Sax Quartet, The Village Brass, folk singer Gary Perrine, country singer Chris Fulwood and The Dixie Cups Dixieland Band. Musical performances by local youth include Brenna Morgan, Makenzie Massey, Tyler Heimerdinger, Hannah Rowe, Anna McCarley, Rebecca Mallon, Sheridan McCarthy, Summer Findley and Elizabath Lacasse.

There are 500 tickets available for the 50/50 raffle. If all tickets are sold, the winning ticket holder could win up to $12,500. Raffle tickets are still available for purchase by contacting the TCA.

Shelley Lim, Cultural and Leisure Services Director for the TCA, says the theater brings in national touring performers each year, but the primary focus of the organization is to get Tecumseh residents onstage.

“The TCA is the cornerstone of performing arts in our community, and the heart and soul of our theatre is locals seeing their friends, family and neighbors live in a fantastic venue,” Lim said. “It’s important to offer this to the community because it brings quality to our community, new emotions and new experiences in Tecumseh.”

Some groups known to perform regularly at the TCA are the Tecumseh Youth Theatre and the Tecumseh Pops Orchestra.

“Thousands of children have performed onstage for the very first time at the TCA,” Lim said. “There’s just a plethora of talent in our community, so we wanted to take a moment and showcase it during the night.”

Lim said the TCA took various ideas done previously for past Tecumseh talent shows, and retooled them to create a modern event that showcases the various talented members of the community.

“This talent show is bringing us into the new millennium,” Lim said. “It’s going to be a great evening of entertainment, so you’re going to see all kinds of performers.”

Tickets to Tecumseh’s Got Talent are $12 for cash purchases, $13 for credit cards and may be purchased at the door, online at www.thetca.org, by phone at 423.6617 or in person at the TCA box office.

The TCA is located at 400 N. Maumee St. in Tecumseh.
