Lois Ruth Ruppert

Lois Ruppert, age 84, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2014, of pneumonia at Hospice of Lenawee in Adrian, Mich. She was born on August 8, 1930, the daughter of Louis and Lola Boyd of Grisham Township, Ill. Lois was married to Delmer Ruppert in 1950, and they were married for almost 60 years before he preceded her in death. Originally from Illinois, they moved to Three Rivers, Michigan a few years after they were married, and lived for many years there, making numerous good friends. They raised their family in Three Rivers, and moved to a condo in Tecumseh after retirement to be closer to family members there. While in Three Rivers, they were active members of St. Peters Lutheran Church, and Lois was active in the local school parent teacher’s association. She worked at retail jobs and in a doctor’s office before settling into a career at a local pharmacy, where she performed a wide variety of responsibilities. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, sewing both her own clothes and for those around her, knitting a large variety of items, and especially cooking. Entertaining family at holidays and making cookies and candies galore were yearly events she couldn’t wait to get started at. Lois is survived by sisters Leola Wall, Lenora Hensley, Lela Kay Collins, brother Louis Boyd, numerous nieces and nephews, daughter Deborah Ruppert and her husband John Opalko of Tigard, Oregon, son Dennis Ruppert and his wife Sherry Rader of Manchester, Mich., and son Marvin Ruppert of Tecumseh, Mich. She has five grandchildren, Eddie Mailman, Justin, Nicholas and Jessica Ruppert, and Michael Ruppert, along with two great grandchildren, Jayden Moore and Emma Ruppert.Although hampered by the effects of dementia and declining health for the past few years, Lois never lost her capacity for humor, and always joked around with whomever she was with. Always the social butterfly, she brought smiles to all who knew her, and could always be counted on to brighten your day. Her down-to-earth humor and wit will be sorely missed by all. After cremation, a memorial service is planned for anyone wishing to say their final goodbyes on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m. at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Tecumseh, Mich. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, to Hospice of Lenawee, or to your favorite charitable organization.
