Lori Janet Pike

Lori Janet Pike, age 55, of Tecumseh, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017 at the Provincial House in Adrian.

Born October 17, 1961, in Detroit, Lori was the daughter of Hugh and Madelyn Pike. She was a 1979 graduate of Clinton High School where she participated in school government and sports, including basketball, volleyball, and track. After graduation, she worked in various roles, including her final position as a Manufacturing Supervisor at Manchester Plastics.

She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1997 and fought a difficult battle for the past 20 years. Despite the aggressive nature of her disease, she continued to convey an unwavering positive attitude on life and never allowed her health or physical limitations to distract from her spirit. Lori became a resident at the Herrick Manor nursing home in 2001 and remained there until just before her passing. Lori was a fixture at Herrick Manor, enjoying the interaction with the members of the facility and developing a close relationship with the staff, many of them sharing common interests with Lori due to her relatively younger age.

Lori is survived by her two brothers, Wally of Tecumseh, and Kevin (Shelly) of Clinton; her nephews Trevor (Elizabeth) and Tanner (Elizabeth); her three nieces, Gina, Kristen and Chloe; and two great nieces, Hailey and Eliot.

She was preceded in death by her father, Hugh, in 1999 and mother, Madelyn, in 2012.

Lori was also very fortunate to have had many close friends and care givers over the years, helping her in her battle and providing love and support.

She showed unbelievable courage and perseverance against the challenges of MS and had a remarkable spirit and kindness. She will be missed, but will always be an inspiration to those who knew her and saw how she faced every day with a positive attitude, regardless of what life would throw her way.

Funeral services will be held at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home in Tecumseh, with visitation on Thursday, Jan. 26, from 4-7 p.m. A short memorial service will follow immediately after the viewing at 7 p.m.  Information can be found and condolences left at pursefuneralhome.com.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, or the Lenawee County Humane Society of Adrian in Lori’s name.
