Manager thanks community for fundraising support

To the Editor,The City of Tecumseh would like to thank the community for the outstanding support they showed in helping us run a very successful campaign to bring “Movies in the Park” back to Tecumseh. The city began working on the project last summer and launched the campaign through the crowdfunding platform Patronicity on April 1, 2015. Thanks to the amazing generosity of donors and the community’s high level of support, the contributions received during the 30-day campaign surpassed our expectations by reaching $17,011. Since the city met its goal, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation is providing a 100 percent grant match to our goal amount, increasing funding to $31,661!We are in the process of ordering the projection equipment and have already started preparing the reward packages for our donors. Depending on the arrival of the equipment, the city is tentatively planning to kick off “Movies in the Park” in Adams Park on Friday, June 12, 2015.Because the campaign received contributions above the goal amount, the city has decided to purchase additional films and increase movie nights from one Friday per month to two!Thank you once again for your support!Kevin WelchCity Manager
