Manuel G. Arana Sr

Manuel G. Arana Sr., age 90 of Tecumseh Mich., died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor.  He leaves his wife of 65 years, Dina I. (Gonzales) Arana (83); son, Manuel Jr., and family: wife Aura and children Francisco, Amaris, Javier and Marisol. Son, Jose and family: wife Lourdes and children Maribel, Karen, Marco and Alexander. Daughter Ana Rivera and family: husband Jorge, children Jorge Jr., Favio, Arelys and Omar. Daughter Isabel Pilar DeLisle and family: husband Daniel, children Angelica and David. 18 great grandchildren and many close friends. 

Manuel was born in La Paz Bolivia, the son of Jose and Ana (Santiago) Arana, citizens of Spain. He grew up in Spain and attended the Colegio Escolapios de Granada. He moved to Chile as a young adult where he met Dina Gonzales, his wife of 65 years. They owned successful retail businesses in Santiago, Chile. 

In 1971 they moved to the U.S. with four young children. For many years they owned the Chilean House, a very successful restaurant in Tecumseh Mich., before retiring. 

He will be remembered as the patriarch of a large multicultural American family. The strong Catholic faith he professed and practiced are an inspiration to all he touched. His wisdom and humor will be missed and cherished.  

Funeral Services will be 11 a.m.  Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 9565 Musch Rd., Brighton, Mich., 48116. 

Visitation will also be Saturday at 10 a.m., one hour preceding the funeral service.  Burial will follow in Holy Spirit Cemetery. Condolences to the family may be made online at www.pursefuneralhome.com.
