Margaret “Maggie” Schechter

Margaret “Maggie” Schechter, formerly of Augusta Twp., Mich., age 90, died March 10, 2016 at Arbor North Living Center, Jackson, Mich. 

She was born on January 31, 1926 in Milan, Mich., to Roscoe and Nancy (Preston) Rendel. On May 24, 1947 she married George Schechter at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Ypsilanti.  Maggie retired from Ford Motor Co. after 46 years of service.

She is survived by a loving daughter and son-in-law Carolyn and Kevin Bowman of Jackson, two grandsons Lucas (Courtney) and Alexander Bowman, which she adored; two sisters, Mildred Kemp-Rowe, Lucille Dindoffer, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband of 59 years she was preceded in death by her son Thomas; five siblings, Leland, Dorothy, Ruth Reum, Rose Rhora, George David Rendel and brother-in-law Donald Schechter.

Funeral services were held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Ypsilanti on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10-11 a.m. Burial will follow at Marble Park Cemetery, Milan.

Contributions may be made to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 201 N. River St., Ypsilanti or Lumen Christi Catholic School, 3483 Spring Arbor Rd. Jackson, MI  49203.  Envelopes are also available at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan where friends may call on Sunday from 2-6 p.m.  www.ochalekstark.com.
