Mariano Lopez Alvarado

Mariano Lopez “Cadillac” Alvarado, age 84, of Adrian, died Sunday, July 5, 2015, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. He was born August 23, 1930, in Coamo, Puerto Rico, to Visita Lopez and Ernesta Alvarado. He married Joan Bond at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and she preceded him in death on September 2, 1998. Mariano had been employed by Tecumseh Products for 45 years, where he obtained his nickname “Cadillac.” He enjoyed working in the yard, building bird houses, smoking cigars and helping other people. Mariano was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.Mariano is survived by his children, Rena (Kevin) Barrett of DuBois, Pa., Penny Sartwell of Florida, Marco (Kathy) Alvarado of Manitou Beach, Mickey Alvarado of Tecumseh, Maria Alvarado of Tecumseh, Angelo (Regina) Alvarado of Adrian and Angela “Michelle” Alvarado of Adrian; grandchildren, Danial, Devon, Julian, Megan, Heidi, Tama (Nate), Adam (Kelli), Edward, Patricia, Ty, Violette, Tenzin, Armando and Manuel; and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Joan, he was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Debbie.At Mariano’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation. A private graveside service will be held at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian.Condolences may be sent to the family at www.andersonfuneralservices.com.
