Marietta “Nickie” Snook

Marietta “Nickie” Snook, age 89, passed away peacefully January 20, 2015, at Cambrian Assisting Living, Tecumseh. Nickie was born May 2, 1925, in Lima, Ohio, the daughter of Louis and Mary (Meffley) Nichols. On November 10, 1945, she married William Perry Snook, Jr. in Lima, Ohio. He preceded her in death May 27, 2006. In 1987 they started wintering in Florida and enjoyed their time at The Villages.Nickie was involved in many activities and organizations. She was past president of the Tecumseh Monday Club, member of the Lenawee County Women's Federation, Herrick Hospital Auxiliary, a Girl Scout Leader, lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh, the Tecumseh Country Club, and the Tecumseh and Florida Doll Clubs. She also enjoyed playing golf, bridge and tennis.Nickie is survived by two daughters, Josilyn Garner of Adrian, Judith (Richard) Graf of Tecumseh; one son, William P. (Debra) Snook, III of Brooklyn; five grandchildren, Gretchen (Jason) Meier-Jurica of Oakland, Calif., Jason Meier of Adrian, Megan (Alex) Halberstadt of California, Md., Morgan and Collin Snook of Brooklyn; six great-grandchildren, Aaron, Emily, and Caleb Meier, and Elizabeth, Ian and Adeline Halberstadt. In addition to her husband, Bill, she was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Martha Scott and two sisters in infancy.Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Chaplain Linda Farley officiating. A private burial will take place in Brookside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. on Saturday until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee.
