Marjorie Almina Hunt

Marjorie Almina Hunt, 93, of Superior Township, Mich., formerly of Tecumseh, Mich. and Apache Junction, Ariz., died April 27, 2016 in Superior Township. She was born June 1, 1922 in Newfane, N.Y. to Clarence and Alice Keller. Almina graduated from Newfane High School in 1939 and in 1941, moved to Clinton, Mich. where she met Robert (Bob) Hunt. They were married in Buffalo, N.Y. on February 1, 1942 and were long time residents of Lenawee County residing in Clinton, Onsted and Tecumseh. Upon their retirement in 1978, they moved to Apache Junction, Ariz. where they resided for 23 years before moving back to Michigan in 2001.

Almina was a member of Eastern Star serving in many offices including Worthy Matron of Cambridge Chapter, Onsted; a life member of Tecumseh Chapter; past-president of the Lenawee-Monroe Association; Eastern Star; and member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem in Hudson. She was also a past-president of the VFW Auxiliary in Clinton. Almina was a member and active participant of Community Christian Church in Apache Junction, Ariz. and First Christian Church in Ypsilanti. She was the bookkeeper at the Tecumseh Herald for 19 years before retiring to Arizona. She loved music, was a talented vocalist and creative artist and crafter.

Almina was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents, Clarence and Alice Keller; her sister, Violet Jackson and great grandson Adrien Aicher. She is survived by her children, Roberta “Bobbie” (Charles) Anderson, Superior Township, Mich.; Dr. Howard (Linda) Hunt, Fairfield, Iowa; Shirley (Jim) Wolf, Plymouth, Ohio; and Cortland (Brenda) Hunt, Hutto, Texas. Grandchildren: Col. Dagvin (Elizabeth) Anderson, Albuquerque, NM; Inger (Daniel) Anderson, Saline, Mich; Heather Aicher, Boise, Idaho; Jennifer (Alex) Kallio, Denton, Nebraska; Melanie (Mike) Coleman, Gallion, Ohio; Nicole Hunt, Lake Elisnore, Calif.; and Mary Hunt, Austin, Texas. Great grandchildren: Hala and Lilja Anderson; Logan Aicher; Maya, Elayna and Maggie Kallio; Kayleigh and Brandon Mellas; Austin Bruton; Olivia and Peter Sandford.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 1, 3-5 p.m. at Purse Funeral Chapel, 210 W. Pottawatamie St., Tecumseh with funeral services Monday, May 2 at 1 p.m. with Rev. John Hayden, burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Clinton In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Almina’s name to Arbor Hospice, 2366 Oak Valley Dr., Ann Arbor, MI 48103.
