Marjorie Mae Matthews

Marjorie Mae Matthews, age 91, of Clinton passed away Dec. 7, 2017 at her home. She was born May 18, 1926 in Detroit to the late Edmund and Agnes (Miller) Sifka. Marjorie was raised by Harry and Anna Hoffman of Clinton. On January 19, 1946 at St. Dominic Catholic Church she married Walton E. Matthews. He preceded her in death on October 30, 1998.

Marjorie was a part and member of  St. Dominic Catholic Church since she was five years old. During high school she worked at the Clinton Inn and later at DST in Clinton, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Clinton Historical Society. Marjorie enjoyed reading, puzzles, cooking and making pies.

Marjorie is survived by three sons: Tracy (Joann) Matthews of Tecumseh, Ronald (Suzie) Matthews of  Rocky Point, Mexico, and Jeffery (Trina) Matthews of Clinton; nine grandchildren, Brian (Lori) Matthews, Jacob Matthews, Donald Stricklin, Eric (Chauntal) Stricklin, Melissa (Brian Price) Matthews, Michael Matthews, Janet (Nathan) Bills, Julie (Justin) Hause and Joseph (Arida Siripong) Matthews and 14 great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents and husband, Walton E. Matthews, she was preceded in death by three sisters and a great grandson, Oliver Hause.

A mass of Christian burial was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11, 2017 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Clinton with Fr. Daniel Wheeler as celebrant.  Burial was in St. Dominic Cemetery.  Visitation was on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the Clinton Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes and from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
