Melinda “Mindy” Hyatt

Melinda “Mindy” Hyatt, age 51, passed away on February 5, 2016 at home, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born on March 10, 1964 in Tecumseh, the daughter of Walter and Janet (Sisson) Furgason.

Mindy grew up and graduated high school in Britton. She worked at Ford Motor Company for 15 years, and completed her associates of Arts in Accounting at the University of Phoenix. Mindy spent the last several years caring for her parents. She enjoyed her dog King, cake decorating, cooking, shopping, snowmobiling, traveling, and spending time with friends. Mindy’s true enjoyment and devotion was her children and grandchildren, and she supported them in everything that they were involved in. Mindy’s laughter and smile will be truly missed.

Mindy is survived by her significant other, Jeffrey Hyatt; her children, Amber (Michael) Palazzo of Tecumseh; Amanda (Joseph) Wilt and Austin Hyatt, both of Britton; granddaughters, Caitlyn, Madison, Jolee, Rylee and McKinlee, one grandson, Mason; her mother, Janet Furgason of Britton; a sister, Pamela (Tracy) Clemons of Tecumseh; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Furgason; mother-in-law, Mildred Hyatt; maternal grandparents, Truman and Genevieve Sisson; paternal grandparents, Leonard and Leora Furgason.

Memorial service for Mindy will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes with Rev. Ray Hansen officiating at 1 p.m. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
