Memphis trip among auction items at Tecumseh Music Fest

Community Arts of Tecumseh (CAT) turns up the volume on Saturday, Aug. 22, with the third annual Tecumseh Music Fest at Hantz Golf Club on Milwaukee Road. From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. guests will enjoy a variety of music as well as have the opportunity to bid on silent and live auction items.“Guests will be serenaded by Andy Jacobs performing on guitar as they enter Hantz Golf Course through the front door,” said CAT Executive Director Diane Savoia. “We have a variety of different musical genres for our guests. The opening musical act is Two Bricks Short, and our premiere entertainment is Chris Ayotte, an Elvis impersonator. He looks like Elvis, he sings like Elvis.”Savoia also confirmed the rumors of a surprise celebrity guest attending the Music Fest. Marilyn Monroe will grace the guests with her presence. Guests will also enjoy a car show in front of Hantz Golf Course with vehicles provided by O’Hara Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Clinton. A Memphis-style BBQ will provide sustenance for hungry attendees.Later in the evening, a silent auction and a live auction will provide a variety of items for bidding. “We have received some very exciting items for the auction,” Savoia said. From art to activities, there is something to appeal to every guest, Savoia added. The silent auction includes SkyDive Tecumseh gift certificates, gift certificates from several different local restaurants, jewelry pieces, pottery pieces, family membership to Carter Rehabilitation and Aquatic Center, yard sculpture, a silk hand-embroidered piece, a vintage Georg Jensen sterling silver brooch, and a felted wool fiber hat donated by Floraworks. The live auction will offer a television and an Apple iWatch, with the biggest item a weekend getaway trip to Memphis, Tenn. The Music Fest committee is very pleased with the donations made for the evening’s auctions, according to Savoia.“We have been working diligently for months to ensure this will be a fun filled community event to help promote the art and music community in Tecumseh,” said Savoia. “The proceeds will be used to continue the ongoing art and music class offerings. We are able to offer scholarships for students to attend classes, and to continue to truly support our mission to stimulate the creative spirit of our community. It should be quite a night.”Tickets are $40 per person and limited to 200 people. They can be purchased online at www.tecumseharts.org, The Tecumseh Herald, or in the CAT office. Office hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., or by calling 423.0000 for an appointment.“Ticket sales are moving forward, so be sure to get your tickets while they are available,” Savoia said.
